HISTORY AND OUR STORY
We purchased A1 Skips in 2008. When we purchased the business it came with 2 trucks and around 180 skip bins. We employed 2 skip drivers and 2 admin personnel Fast forward to 2024 we have 6 skip trucks, 2 hook trucks and over 400 skip bins of various sizes. We have built our own recycling facility and employ 6 drivers, 2 yards personal and 4 admin personnel. We are also the proud owners of Arrow Concrete Cutting.
Recovering from the 2022 Flood
Our business was directly impacted by the February 2022 flood. We had 4 trucks that were written off and vast damage to machinery and buildings but did we did not let that stop us! We were down but not out because with the help from our amazing staff and our mechanic Simon Arnsley, we were able to get the remaining trucks back on the road within days of the waters receding. We then knuckled down for the massive clean-up and million dollar insurance claims with our Insurance Broker, Austbrokers Coast to Coast. The new replacement trucks were ordered, delivered and back on the road within a few months and we were back to business as usual. Albeit a little scarred from the experience from what we, our neighbours and surrounding suburbs endured but left with having a huge awareness for the powers of Mother Nature.
